Actualy winrar is free if you keep hitting cancel. And I hate ECM. I can't get those files uncompressed on my computer.

Well technically that's not free is it. I don't know about ECM, it's worked for me all the times I've tried it.

ECM works for me as well, but I find the tiny bit of compression it adds is not really worth it

Either way, the tools for me wont boot up.

Actually it's not supposed to boot up... you drag the archive on the un-ecm.exe (or whatever) and it will extract it this way.
Anyways it's not a big loss... with the size of hard drives and the speed of internet connections today it's not worth going through a second decompression just to save 1 or 2 %

Go figure, I never would of thought of that since 99.9% of programs don't work that way. And yeah, that amount unles a really big download, is only a few more seconds at most.

lol I think it's because it's on dos, if I remember correctly. I only use it when I d/l something in ecm, which is only for some psx isos from demonoid

I encountered that on emuparidise and couldn't get alot of the psx games there due to it. Then I found filecrop and don't use that site much anymore.

well now you'll be able to get them if you encounter them again, but it's quite rare

Yeah, that was the first and only site I've encountered that had them.

it's not worth going through a second decompression just to save 1 or 2 % I've seen it save anywhere from 10 to 18%. Which is a lot when you have my upload speed... Either way I'd be willing to bet I'm the only one on this site that has used it, and I only did it for one upload anyway.

yeah I wouldn't be surprised either if you're the only one who uses it! I haven't seen it compress that much but it's possible... I only use it when the file I want is compressed in ECM, and what I saw did not impress me enough to start using it myself, even from 10 to 18%. I guess at that compression ratio it would start being worth it for files over a few gigs.
